Glenn and Margie Testimonial

Another Testimony Sharing How Coastal Virginia Wealth Group Helped Achieve A Life Goal

A few months ago, Margie and I had the privilege of going to Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) headquarters in Nampa, Idaho for the commissioning of two of our friends as missionaries to Mozambique, Africa. MAF is the “airlift” arm for missions in many underdeveloped countries in the world transporting missionaries, doctors, medicine, Bibles, food, chickens and villagers whenever there is a need.

We met Will and Debora Romauldo over 10 years ago when they moved to the US from Brazil. They connected with us at our church and he later flight instructed at Emery Riddle Aeronautical University where I taught. They immediately became a part of our lives and we watched the joy as their son was born, and shared in the grief as they lost their 16 month old daughter to a rare terminal disease. Throughout it all, their faith and commitment to serve never wavered.

Will was a Captain for Spirit Airlines and Debora a pediatrician. They announced they were planning on joining MAF. “Well that’s not the normal career track for a pilot “, I said jokingly. “Where did you get that idea?” “When we were dating” they said. They had shared the desire to one day be able to do medical missions for her and flying as a missionary pilot for him. Now in their early 40’s the time had come.

They spent months raising their financial support, training for the specific type of flying into back-country mountain strips he will be doing, becoming proficient as an aircraft mechanic, and finishing a degree in Tropical Disease for Debora. Fortunately, they are fluent in Portuguese, their native language of Brazil which is also spoken in Mozambique, so they can bypass language school.

They spent the last week with us here in Florida preparing to leave and packing, crating, and yes selling everything they have to follow Jesus. They are such an inspiration to us and I admit I’m a bit envious of the type flying Will is going to be doing. However, there is much political unrest in many countries in Africa like Mozambique and The Congo. Even so, at the commissioning, we witnessed three families all with small children who were answering the call to go make disciples…in Matthew 28:19.

Dan, you and your team at Coastal VA Wealth Group have helped us be good stewards of what God has entrusted us with here on earth. It is such a privilege to partner with this family and encourage them. These types of missionaries use their special gifts in serving and take it the next step to “store your treasures in heaven where neither rust or moths (or tariffs or market downturns) can destroy.

Did you know:  When missionaries typically raise financial support from churches and individuals, it’s not just their monthly living expenses. The amount of their monthly support includes not only the expected monthly expenses for the area they will be assigned to, but healthcare insurance, retirement fund and the general fund of the organization. If a missionary family spends 20-30 years in the field, they certainly need a retirement plan to provide for them later. The general fund covers administrative costs like visas, immunizations, training, flights for furloughs, evacuations, and other needs of all the missionaries in that organization. Families usually raise over 100% of their need to account for some supporters dying or dropping out over the years.
